A Brief History of Eureka
Eureka Resale was the company who manufactured S&H Green Stamps in the 1950’s. We decided that if we could print green stamps on gummed paper, maybe we could print cute pictures on this same paper, and our Gummed Seals were born! The seals came in small booklet form, featured both seasonal and everyday designs and were used in homes and schools. Self-stick technology was developed, and in January 1955 the Presto-Stick® name and logo became an official registered trademark of Eureka. Self-stick labels and stickers began to be a bigger part of our product offering.
In the 1960’s, we expanded into seasonal paper cut-out decorations, and continued to make both gummed and Presto-Stick® products such as mailing labels, self-stick letters, foil stars and notary seals. Over the years we added more decorative type products, such as banners, bulletin board sets and Deco Trim®.
The Paper Magic Group, Inc. was founded in 1974 as Eureka Resale Products, Inc., when Philadelphia Industries purchased Eureka Resale. In 1984, Eureka Resale expanded into seasonal products by purchasing Artis Publishing and Grand Award. The name of the company was changed that year to The Paper Magic Group, Inc., and in 1988 Paper Magic joined the CSS Industries family of companies.
In 1997, Paper Magic purchased Color-Clings, Inc. and quickly added many of their high quality Window Clings to the school market product offering. Clings have become one of Eureka’s signature items, along with stickers and our licensed items. In 1999, Suzy’s Zoo® items were first introduced into the Eureka line, and quickly became best sellers! Since then, we have featured artwork from many different licenses on our products, including Cat in the Hat™, Precious Moments™, and JumpStart. In 2005 we are introducing Wags and Whiskers™ -- another fabulous creation from Suzy's Zoo® Studios destined to become best sellers as well!
The Eureka brand name has remained throughout all of these years, and is used today on the line of everyday decorative products aimed at the school market. In 2004, Eureka celebrated its 30th anniversary as part of The Paper Magic Group, continuing the tradition of providing colorful stickers and other decorations for the classroom.
